Barry Ferguson has said that Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney should move to Real Madrid if he has the chance to do so, as quoted in Football Scotland.
The Sunday Post reported over the weekend that Spanish and European giants Madrid are keen on signing Tierney from Premier League club Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Madrid are reportedly planning to make a bid of £50 million for the 24-year-old former Celtic star, who can also operate in a back-three.
Former Rangers star and fellow Scot Ferguson believes that if Tierney has the chance to move to Madrid, then he should do so.
Ferguson said on the Go Radio Football Show, as transcribed by Football Scotland: “I think that’s cheap. If I’m being honest with you, it’s £50 million. He just signed a new long term contract.
“But I’m not surprised. I think if a club like Real Madrid come calling, you’ve got to seriously consider it or go and talk to them.
“I’m not surprise in the slightest. On Thursday in the Scotland game, he was a standout – not just because he scored the goal, but he breezed it.
“He is a top player. He was a very good player when he left Celtic to go to Arsenal, I think he’s become a top player since he’s played games in the Premier League.”
Arsenal should not sell Kieran Tierney to Real Madrid
In our opinion, Arsenal should do their utmost to keep hold of Tierney, especially if they finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
Tierney has gone from strength to strength at Arsenal, and given that he is 24 now, we can safely say that he is only going to improve and develop even further.
Now, of course, Madrid are a massive club, arguably the biggest in the world, but Arsenal are a global brand and should not let Tierney leave without a fight.
