Arsenal remain in the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer – and are allegedly targeting a deal for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

The Gunners have major question marks over their goalkeeping options heading into the new season.

Bernd Leno’s future is unclear, Runar Runarsson just isn’t of the required quality and Mat Ryan’s loan deal is now over.

That means Arsenal are searching for a goalkeeping addition, and Ramsdale is emerging as the top target for Edu and Mikel Arteta.

The Times report that Arsenal have made two bids for Ramsdale, but have now been told that he will cost more than £32million – a huge fee for the Gunners.

This doesn’t look great for Arsenal given that they sold Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa for £20million last summer – a snip compared to the deal needed for Ramsdale.

Martinez was outstanding for Villa last season and arguably even better when winning Copa America with Argentina.

You can make a case that the Argentinian would now be Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper, and Villa fans are poking fun at the Gunners.

Some call the move to sell Martinez and spend even more money Ramsdale is a ‘disaster’ and a ‘joke, admitting they would be ‘furious’ with such a move.

Others questioned just who is making these decisions, branding Arsenal a ‘funny’ club as they plot a big deal for Ramsdale.
