You could forgive Arsenal fans if they had forgotten all about Pablo Mari.

That’s because the Spanish centre-back has only managed 24 minutes of football under Mikel Arteta since March.

Mari was an early casualty in Arsenal’s hammering by Manchester City during the first game in Project Restart in June and injury has prevented him from playing since.

The Gunners later shelled out £14 million to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent basis, after originally joining on loan from Flamengo in January.

And the North London club have revealed good news on the Mari front.

Arsenal posted an injury update on their official website on Saturday and claimed that the big man is only 10 days away from resuming full training.

And the sooner Mari is back, the better.

Arsenal’s centre-back situation isn’t as healthy as it looked before the season began, with William Saliba deemed too raw to play senior games as of yet, while Rob Holding will miss the next three weeks through injury.

And with Shkodran Mustafi rusty after his lengthy absence, that leaves Gabriel and David Luiz as Arteta’s best options as of right now.
