Erling Haaland has sent a four-word Instagram message to Martin Odegaard, after Arsenal suffered a late defeat to Manchester City on Saturday. Rodri scored a late winner against the Gunners, to win 2-1.
Odegaard, 23, has taken some time getting used to Premier League football. But after a loan, and then a permanent move in the summer, the last few weeks have seen Odegaard produce his best form in an Arsenal shirt.
The ex-Real Madrid star has scored three goals, and laid on three assists in his last seven Premier League matches. Playing as a no.10 behind Alexandre Lacazette, Odegaard is a beneficiary of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s axe.
Following Sunday’s encouraging, but ultimately narrow defeat to Manchester City – Odegaard posted on Instagram. Of course, Haaland’s Father – Alfie – played for Manchester City during his career.
Haaland message to Odegaard: Arsenal star earns praise
He is certainly deserving of the praise. While Odegaard might not be scoring as many goals as England star Emile Smith-Rowe, there is a reason why he is keeping Arsenal’s no.10 out of the side.
His ability to knit everything together is crucial. His weight of pass, his timing, the positions he takes up. With every minute Odegaard plays, he is getting better – and proving his heavy £40million fee.
Arteta’s Arsenal work better without Aubameyang, but with Odegaard in the team. Haaland commented on the Norwegian ace’s Instagram post, delivering a four-word message: “Go get it brother”.
