Arsenal hammered Liverpool 4-1 today – here’s how Arsene Wenger’s men fared.
David Ospina 7 – didn’t have a lot to do but claimed crosses well and almost saved Jordan Henderson’s second half penalty.
Hector Bellerin 7 – continues to impress despite his inexperience, opening the scoring with a superb run and finish on his weaker foot.
Laurent Koscielny 7 – strong in defence before being substituted for Brazilian Gabriel Paulista early into the second half having suffered a muscle injury – one which Arsenal fans will hope isn’t serious.
Per Mertesacker 7 – solid day amid question marks over his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium, dealing well with Liverpool’s pace in the final third.
Nacho Monreal 6 – had some trouble with Markovic early on but was solid defensively in the second half, eventually adjust to Liverpool’s attacking play.
Francis Coquelin 8 – the Frenchman’s great displays this season don’t look like a flash in the pan, as he relished the big game today, protecting the Arsenal defence superbly.
Santi Cazorla 6 – wasn’t quite as impressive as recent performances, giving the ball away a little cheaply at times, but showed good touches in the final third.
Aaron Ramsey 7 – looks to be getting back to his best. Got forward to support the attack well before being replaced by Mathieu Flamini.
Mesut Ozil 9 – not only scored a sublime free kick but was ghosting past Liverpool players with ease and creating chances for his team mates in a superb display.
Alexis Sanchez 8 – was his usual busy self in the final third, and capped off a flowing move with a stunning finish for the third goal.
Olivier Giroud 8 – continues his fine recent form by scoring another goal. Led the line well and took his goal with aplomb, giving Simon Mignolet no chance.
Substitutes
Gabriel Paulista 7 – filled in well for Koscielny at centre back, marshalling the defence well during Liverpool’s bright spell late on.
Mathieu Flamini 6 – offered Arsenal a little more defensive stability after replacing Ramsey.
Danny Welbeck 6 – full of running but his first touch let him down too often, costing Arsenal possession or the chance to score.
