Gabby Agbonlahor has taken to Twitter following England’s 3-3 draw with Germany to claim that Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is “clear” of Manchester City talent Phil Foden – after Saka came off the bench to change the game on Monday.

England were poor during the first 60 minutes. Going 1-0 down to Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty in the first half, they found themselves 2-0 down in the second when Kai Havertz curled a gorgeous effort into the top corner. But England rallied.

Gareth Southgate brought on Mason Mount and Saka – and they changed the game. Saka was involved in the first, a neat finish from Luke Shaw. Then, Saka set up Mount, who swept home a beautiful second past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Then, Jude Bellingham was fouled in the penalty area and after a VAR check, Harry Kane swept a beautiful penalty into the top corner. A penalty that earned praise from John Terry. However, it was not a win, as Havertz made it 3-3.

A shame not to win the match for the under-pressure Gareth Southgate. But a superb spell towards the end of the match, will give England positives ahead of the World Cup. Agbonlahor praised Saka, claiming he is better than Foden.

Agbonlahor: Arsenal star Saka is clear of Manchester City talent Foden

Foden is yet to show his Manchester City form in an England shirt, at least, on a consistent basis. The £100k-a-week ace seemed particularly subdued on Monday evening, perhaps because of Southgate’s tactics to defend and then counter.

But Saka changed that. The Arsenal superstar looked excellent as he came on, proving to Southgate that he should start at the World Cup when the Three Lions face Iran. Certainly at England level, Agbonlahor has a point.

With Kane and Raheem Sterling likely to start at the World Cup in a front three, the other spot is up for grabs. Whether it be Saka, Foden, Jack Grealish or even Mason Mount, Saka has shown on Monday night that he can change a game.
