Arsenal star Thomas Partey has reflected on Ghana’s World Cup campaign on Instagram, which saw his county knocked out of the group stage – and the midfielder has earned praise from Arsenal duo Oleksandr Zinchenko and Matt Turner.
Partey, 29, played every minute of Ghana’s World Cup campaign – taking his tally of caps to 43. Ghana came close to an upset against Portugal, losing 3-2. They beat South Korea by the same result, earning a chance in the final game.
However, they suffered a 2-0 loss to Uruguay. It was an exciting end to Group H, which saw South Korea win against Portugal to book their place in the last 16 – taking on Brazil on Monday evening. Ghana, though, were good in Qatar.
While at times they were poor at the back, they certainly brought an enjoyment and a ruthlessness in front of goal. Plenty of positives for Partey and Ghana, and he took to Instagram to express his delight at playing at the World Cup.
Arsenal star Partey earns praise from Zinchenko and Turner on Instagram
Partey is playing some of the football of his life. Starring for Atletico Madrid, he joined Arsenal in the summer of 2020. But, the Gunners have been superb this term. You could argue, that Partey is Arsenal’s most-important man right now.
They have little other option in the squad that Partey brings to the table. That form continued in the World Cup, giving Ghana’s attackers the basis to go on and take the game to their opponents. However, it was not to be in the end.
Posting on Instagram, Partey earned praise from some of his Arsenal teammates. Turner, who has also been knocked out – but in the last 16 – with USA, applauded Partey for his consistency. Zinchenko described Partey as a “beast”.
