Arsenal are lacking creativity right now, and that makes the decision to axe Mesut Ozil all the more controversial.

Mikel Arteta decided to leave Ozil out of his Premier League and Europa League squads, seemingly spelling the end of his time at the Emirates Stadium.

Ozil’s contract comes to an end in the summer, so it seems that the 32-year-old will simply see out his contract and leave for absolutely nothing.

The German has been a star for Arsenal; 44 goals and 77 assists in 254 games for the Gunners is an impressive record, and with just four goals scored in their last 10 Premier League games, Arsenal are missing some flair.

Arteta seemingly doesn’t think Ozil is cut out for his style of play, but the longer the creative issues go on, the more Ozil’s exclusion seems bizarre.

When he’s a free agent, Ozil will likely have interest from a number of clubs, and what if he did the unthinkable and joined Tottenham?

That seems a strange idea, but don’t forget that Jose Mourinho absolutely loves Ozil from his time coaching him at Real Madrid, and the Spurs boss would no doubt love to wind up Arsenal by rejuvenating Ozil in North London.

One fan asked Ozil whether he would join Tottenham and reunite with Mourinho, and the Arsenal outcast responded by simply posting a gif of Spiderman with a host of ‘no’ cards, seemingly ruling out a move to Arsenal’s bitter rivals – even if Mourinho did come calling.
