Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading Arsenal by a point in the Premier League standings.

Rio Ferdinand has told the London Evening Standard that it is too early to claim that Tottenham Hotspur are ahead of Arsenal.

Spurs finished last season one spot below Arsenal in the Premier League standings, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side had a claim to suggest that they were Leicester City’s strongest challengers for the title.

Tottenham have started this campaign in better form than the Gunners too, but Ferdinand does not feel that they have overtaken their North London rivals yet, as they have not delivered any silverware.

“It is too early to talk about a changing of the guard in London,” the former Manchester United defender said.

“They can’t say anything until they start putting winners’ medals around their necks.”

Spurs have never before won the Premier League title, but Pochettino has challenged his side to do so this season.

At the moment, Tottenham are four points behind Manchester City – but they are still unbeaten in Premier League action.

Arsenal, meanwhile, sit in third spot in the top flight standings – one point behind Pochettino’s men.

Tottenham’s next domestic match comes against Manchester City on Sunday, while Arsene Wenger’s side are due to face Burnley at the weekend.
