Arsenal are currently second in the table behind leaders Chelsea.

Speaking to the Mirror, former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit says the Gunners are only fourth favourites for the title this season.

The Gunners have impressed in the Premier League this season and are currently unbeaten since the opening day loss to Liverpool.

They were in impressive form over the weekend as they beat West Ham United 5-1 at the London Stadium.

That result took them up to second in the table and just three points behind league leaders Chelsea.

They are very much in the midst of a battle for the title at this stage of the campaign but Petit thinks they are only fourth favourites to go on and win it.

“Arsenal can compete for the Premier League title but I see Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City with a better chance,” he told the Mirror.

“I think they have more options – they have more up front, in midfield and in defence. This is something that worries me a lot [about Arsenal].”

Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez celebrates scoring their second goal

The pressure is now on Arsenal to go one better than last season and actually win the title this year.

They face a fight to do so, of course, with this year’s title race looking like one of the closest for a number of years.

If they are to challenge throughout they will almost certainly need Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to maintain their current form.

Both players have been in impressive form this season and have played a key role in helping them to second, and keeping them at that level will be vital.
