Arsenal are refusing to give up on a January transfer for Dejan Kulusevski and have stormed into pole position in the race to sign the Juventus forward, according to Calciomercato.

The Gunners are relentless in pursuing the Sweden international as their Technical Director Edu works to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s options. While the north Londoners are now in the fight to finish the campaign in the top-four after a poor start, their offence is off the pace.

Arsenal have managed 23 goals over their 17 Premier League matches so far this season, to 22 allowed. They rank eighth in the division for goals scored in the first four-months of the term. Additionally, 17th-place Watford have only scored two less, also in one fewer game.

Edu is, therefore, on the lookout for options who can arrive at the Emirates Stadium in the winter sales. Kulusevski may be one, with the Arsenal transfer target on Juventus’ fringes.

Arsenal relentless in pursuit of Kulusevski transfer

Arsenal refuse to cool their transfer pursuit of Kulusevski and have moved into pole for the Juventus forward. He has a number of fans outside of Italy, but the Gunners are above all.

Clubs are tracking the 21-year-old as he has struggled to hold a key role since Massimiliano Allegri returned to Turin. The 20-cap winger has only started four of his 14 Serie A outings so far this term. He has also only managed to record two assists and is yet to score a goal.

Kulusevski missed the Bianconeri’s last league game after a small operation. But he is ready to return at Bologna on Saturday and show what he can offer ahead of the January market.

Juventus have one further fixture after their trip to Bologna before the Italian winter break begins. So, he potentially has two chances to show Allegri why he should be kept in Turin.

Juventus ready to cash in on Ronaldo-backed forward

Reports by Gazette Dello Sport last week claimed Juventus are ready to cash in on Arsenal target Kulusevski in January. The Bianconeri have also set his price tag at around £30m.

He only joined the Allianz Stadium side in January 2020 for €35m (£30m) with €9m (£7.5m) in add-ons. Cristiano Ronaldo also spoke fondly of the Stockholm native upon his arrival.

“He is a great talent,” Ronaldo said, via quotes by JuveFC.com. “He will help us to win and achieve incredible things. I really like to see him. He has great potential and he’s an excellent player. I hope to play with him and score a lot of goals together.”
