Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Clement Lenglet, amid talks between Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona, according to The Times.

The Times have reported that Arsenal and bitter North London rivals Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Barcelona central defender Lenglet in the summer transfer window.

La Liga giants Barcelona have reportedly made the 26-year-old France international centre-back available on loan.

Sport have reported that Tottenham and Barcelona are already in talks over a one-year loan deal.

Spurs are reportedly willing to pay Lenglet’s salary, which is €10 million per year, which equates to £165,000 per week (Sport).

Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur for Clement Lenglet?

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur will be more appealing to Clement Lenglet than Arsenal.

Tottenham will play in the Champions League next season, while Arsenal will be in the Europa League.

Lenglet is 26 now, so he will surely want to spend the best years of his career playing in the best competitions.

That Tottenham are actively in talks with Barcelona over Lenglet underlines how keen they are on bringing the left-footed centre-back to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham play three at the back, so Lenglet would fit in nicely in Antonio Conte’s system and compete with Ben Davies.

Ben White and Gabriel are the two main centre-backs at Arsenal, who will also have William Saliba at their disposal next season.

So, Lenglet would find it harder to play regularly for Arsenal.
