Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have joined Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Brighton and Hove Albion and Argentina international midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, according to AS.
Arsenal join Tottenham in race for Alexis Mac Allister
AS have reported that Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have shown interest in signing Mac Allister, who won the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina.
The 23-year-old was a key figure in the Argentina team, and his performances, including that in the final, was outstanding.
This report in AS follows claims in the Italian media that Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte wants the 23-year-old Brighton star at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the January transfer window.
According to CMW, Conte has given ‘a mandate to his management to push on the accelerator’ and get a deal done for Mac Allister before his former clubs Inter Milan and Juventus.
Italian outlet L’Interista had earlier claimed that Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Inter all are in the race to sign Mac Allister.

Could a January transfer happen?
In our opinion, it is unlikely that Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur will be able to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window.
Brighton CEO Paul Barber has already said that the club plan to keep the youngster.
Yes, money talks, but the Seagulls are an established club in the Premier League who are not going to sell a World Cup winner in the middle of the season.
