Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Sandro Tonali from AC Milan in the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato.it.

Journalist Enrico Camelio has told Calciomercato.it that Arsenal had a meeting with Milan over the 22-year-old Italy international midfielder, described as a player who “has great qualities” and who “will make a good signing” for any club who will secure his services by former England head coach Fabio Capello in TMW, as translated by Sempre Inter, in May 2020.

Milan have told Arsenal that Tonali is not for sale, but the defending Italian champions could cash in on the midfielder for €55 million (£46.51 million).

Journalist Enrico Camelio told CalcioMercato.it, as translated by TheBootRoom: “Milan and Arsenal met and talked about Tonali.

“The Rossoneri have declared that the midfielder is not transferable, but if a proposal for €55 million (£46.4m) arrives, Milan could sell him and make two purchases.”

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, Arsenal could be able to sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, but for that to happen, they need to pay what the Italian giants want for him.

Milan are a massive club, and they will simply not sell one of their best young players on the cheap.

Tonali has been superb for Milan and is a key figure in the team.

The Italian made 31 starts and five substitute appearances in Serie A last season.

Tonali scored five goals and gave two assists in those matches.

The 22-year-old also made four starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for the Rossoneri last season.
