Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to hand Oleksandr Zinchenko a new contract, according to a report.

According to 90min, Arsenal want Oleksandr Zinchenko to sign a new contract.

Arsenal want new deal for Oleksandr Zinchenko

Zinchenko, who can operate as a left-back or as a midfielder, joined Arsenal from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

The £150,000-a-week (Spotrac) 26-year-old Ukraine international has been a very good signing for the Gunners.

Zinchenko hit the ground running at Arsenal and quickly established himself as the first-choice left-back at the Emirates Stadium because of his ability to move into midfield in-game.

The Arsenal no. 35 has played three matches as a defensive midfielder so far this season.

90min has added that one of Arsenal’s priorities is to agree terms with Zinchenko over a new deal.

The Ukraine international is under contract at the North London club until the summer of 2026.

Arsenal plan for Oleksandr Zinchenko very smart

We believe that Arsenal are being very smart about Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Yes, the Ukraine international has a long-term contract at the Gunners, but his impressive performances could see other big clubs come for him in the coming years.

Arsenal need to protect themselves in case they get a big offer for Zinchenko next summer.

The Gunners would get a big transfer fee if the 26-year-old is under contract until, say 2028.

Moreover, if Arsenal are now willing to hold talks with Zinchenko over a new deal, then it shows to the midfielder just how highly he is valued by the North London club.

Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season and will also look to make an impact in the UEFA Champions League.
