According to Italian outlet, CMW, Arsenal could win the race to sign Milan Skriniar.

The Inter Milan defender has been linked with numerous clubs over the past few weeks as he enters the final six months of his contract – most notably PSG and Tottenham Hotspur.

PSG, as many will know, are linked with every single player under the sun, so it’s no surprise to see them mentioned here, while it’s also quite obvious why Spurs have been linked.

Indeed, Antonio Conte worked with Skriniar during his time at Inter, and to say that he was a fan of the centre-back would be an understatement.

He was a key figure in Inter’s title win under Conte, while the manager himself has described Skriniar as a ‘monstrous’ defender in the past – singling him out for rare praise.

Conte loves Skriniar

The Spurs gaffer spoke highly of Skriniar back when he was Inter boss after a win against Hellas Verona.

“I’m very pleased with the performance, with what we’ve done. The game didn’t get off to a good start, on the contrary, it was in favour of Verona. They were defending with two lines, following their opponents on all sides. Often in the defensive phase they played with a 7-3,” Conte said.

“It wasn’t easy. We paid for a counterattack, then we managed to keep calm and clear. The guys were good, even in the second half we defended with a 50-meter pitch behind us.”

“I don’t like to talk about individual players, but Skriniar was monstrous. Bastoni is a 20-year-old who is growing in an impressive way. Stefan de Vrij was also good.”

Infuriating

It will be utterly infuriating for Antonio Conte if Skriniar does end up at Arsenal.

Conte has wanted Skriniar at Spurs for quite some time now, so he’ll be pulling his hair out if he ends up joining Spurs’ biggest rivals – especially as the Gunners are already dominating Spurs in terms of the Premier League standings.

Conte needs to knock Daniel Levy’s door down and demand that Spurs beat Arsenal to this signing.
