It has now been revealed that while Arsenal are ready to let Charlie Patino leave in the summer, they are also planning to insert a buy-back clause.

First things first, this revelation comes from none other than Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

A majority of Arsenal fans are likely to be over the moon, as the reaction to the speculation around an exit involving Charlie Patino was initially met by questions about the absence of a buy-back clause.

Buy-back clause set to be included as Charlie Patino nears Arsenal exit

It seems like the Emirates faithful, on the whole are still puzzled by the decision to let the 19-year-old leave, considering he is the crown jewel of the Hale End academy.

Branded as a ‘creative genius’ by Foot The Ball, the youngster even made an impression during his season-long loan stint at Blackpool.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that while Charlie Patino is set to leave Arsenal on a permanent basis, the club are trying to insert a buy-back clause in negotiations.

The club ‘hope’ to do so, as their once-prized asset from the academy nears an exit.

Smart business to prioritise a buy-back clause

It seems like the teenager has been insistent on leaving the Gunners as his sights are set on playing regular first-team football.

Currently, that is an unrealistic possibility for him at Mikel Arteta’s side, with Martin Odegaard, Granit Xhaka and Emile Smith-Rowe all being more seasoned options.

Instead of Arsenal simply showing the wonderkid his way out, they seem to know that it would be smart to cover their bases by trying to include a buy-back clause in the deal.

Those within the club must be aware that Patino is capable of becoming a superstar and to have the option to bring him back would save their fortunes, in case he fulfils his potential elsewhere.
