Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal now reportedly want to sign Victor Nelsson, who has been linked with Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal linked with Tottenham Hotspur target Victor Nelsson

According to Rudy Galetti, Arsenal want to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Victor Nelsson from Galatasaray in the summer transfer window.

The Italian journalist has reported on Twitter that Arsenal are looking to sign a new defender following the injury to Jurrien Timber.

Timber, who joined Arsenal in the summer transfer window, is now set for an extended spell on the sidelines due to injury.

Arsenal reportedly have Nelsson on their radar.

Galetti has reported that the 24-year-old Denmark international central defender has a release clause of €25 million (£21.42 million) in his contract at Galatasaray.

Interestingly, Nelsson has been linked with a move to Arsenal’s bitter North London rivals Tottenham as well.

Hürriyet reported last month that Tottenham want to sign the defender, who himself told Galatasaray to accept the North London club’s offer and sell him to the Premier League outfit.

It seems that the defender is keen on a move to Tottenham, but Arsenal’s reported interest in him could change that.

After all, Arsenal are a massive club and a global brand.

It is interesting that the Gunners are now looking at Nelsson as a potential replacement for Timber.

We do not think that the Gunners need to sign another centre-back.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has enough options.

William Saliba and Gabriel were the two main centre-backs last season.

Ben White is a central defender by trade.

There is Jakub Kiwior as well.

Nelsson has made two appearances in the Turkish Super Lig this season.

The centre-back made 33 appearances in the league last season.

Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season and will also play in the UEFA Champions League.
