Arsenal have seemingly moved ahead of Everton in the race to sign Tariq Lamptey, according to a report.
Both the Gunners and Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been heavily linked with a summer move for the 20-year-old defender.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed this week that it’s wise to ‘keep an eye on Arsenal’ in spite of the fact that Lamptey only signed a new contract with Brighton in January.
And according to The Sun, the North Londoners are now ‘frontrunners’ to sign the young right-back.
Arsenal might well need a new player for that position in the long term, amid speculation of Hector Bellerin potentially leaving the club this summer.
Meanwhile, Everton star Seamus Coleman, who turns 33 in October, is getting no younger and therefore it makes sense that the Toffees are also keen on the former Chelsea gem.
But with a brand new contract, the Seagulls can afford to name their price and if Everton – one point behind fourth-placed Chelsea with a game in hand – qualify for the Champions League then it’ll give the Goodison Park side added firepower, financially speaking.
