Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Michael Oliver being appointed the referee for the match against Norwich City, with Mike Dean the VAR.

What’s the story?

The Premier League have announced today the officials for the games this coming weekend.

Arsenal will take on Norwich at the Emirates Stadium in North London this coming Saturday.

Oliver will be the referee, and Stuart Burt and Simon Bennett will be the assistants.

Gavin Ward will be the fourth official for the Premier League game, while Dean will be the VAR.

What are Arsenal fans saying?

As you can see from the tweets below, Arsenal fans are worried about Oliver and Dean being among the officials.

Well, some of them anyway.

Oliver was the referee for Arsenal’s match against Brentford this season and controversially denied striker Folarin Balogun a penalty.

As for Dean, this feature in Arsenal Insider in January 2020 explains why the North London club’s fans are wary whenever he is appointed for any of their games.

Dean is not a very popular referee among Arsenal fans.

Arsenal have lost all three of their Premier League games so far this season.

The Gunners have yet to score in the league this campaign and have conceded as many as nine goals.
