Crystal Palace, Everton, Leicester, Newcastle and West Ham all reportedly want West Brom captain Jonny Evans but should Arsenal renew their own interest?
The race to sign Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion this summer is hotting up, with the Mirror reporting five Premier League clubs are now interested in the defender.
According to the article, Crystal Palace, Everton, Leicester City, Newcastle United and West Ham United are all keen on landing Evans if the Baggies are, as expected, relegated from the top flight.
If West Brom do go down then a £3m release clause written into the Northern Ireland international’s contract will be activated.
Arsenal not interested
The report also says that despite having had bids for Evans rejected over the past 12 months, neither the Gunners or Manchester City are interested in the 30-year-old anymore.
City have since signed Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao, but for the North Londoners defence remains an issue that the former Manchester United man could surely go some way to addressing?
They had a £12m bid for Evans turned down in January, as outlined by the BBC, but could now land him for just a quarter of that price and with Per Mertesacker set to retire at the end of the season, the Northern Irishman could be the ideal replacement.
