Arsenal and Newcastle United want Jonathan David, with the Lille striker admitting that he is now open to a Premier League move.

The Chronicle claimed in November that Newcastle have been scouting David in action for Lille this season.

The Magpies splashed out on a new striker in August, securing Alexander Isak in a big move from Real Sociedad.

Yet with both Callum Wilson and Isak suffering injury problems and Chris Wood being linked away, Newcastle could look for another striker.

David ticks the boxes but that Chronicle report noted that Arsenal are also keen on signing the Canadian international.

Arsenal have just been dealt a major blow with Gabriel Jesus now facing months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

That could spark Arsenal into life over David and the striker now appears to be interested in a move to England.

Newcastle and Arsenal target Jonathan David wants Premier League move

David has spoken to La Voix Du Nord over in France, signalling his desire to move to England.

As quoted by Sky Sports, David has admitted that a Premier League move is ‘possible, very possible’.

David talked about how much he loves English football, admitting that the Premier League motivates him.

David added that it’s a ‘very nice atmosphere’ in the Premier League and isn’t sure whether he can see himself playing anywhere else.

“In England, when I watch the matches, everything is full each time. As a player, it motivates you even more,” said David. “I don’t know, I think it’s possible, very possible. I don’t know if I can find myself anywhere other than the Premier League. It could well be the Premier League. It’s a very nice atmosphere,” he added.

David, 22, has been earning rave reviews for Lille and with former club Gent too.

Nine goals and three assists in just 15 Ligue 1 games this season have again proven David’s quality in front of goal.

The World Cup maybe didn’t go to plan for David as he failed to score for Canada in three games, but Premier League interest is huge.

Newcastle and Arsenal will be keeping very close tabs on David and this public suggestion of a move to England will make a January move very plausible.
