Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Neto from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.

What’s the story?

The Athletic have reported that Arsenal want to bring Neto from Barcelona to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The Brazil international goalkeeper is represented by Kia Joorabchian, who is also the agent of Arsenal duo Willian and Cedric Soares.

The Gunners’ ‘analysts’ have ‘closely assessed’ the 32-year-old goalkeeper and believe that he would be a good signing for Arteta’s side.

Barcelona themselves could sell Neto due to their financial problems.

Could an Arsenal transfer happen?

Neto himself wants to join Arsenal, according to a report in Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo in July 2021.

With Arsenal’s reported hopes of signing Aaron Ramsdale fading, it would make sense for the Gunners to make a move for Neto now.

Yes, the Brazilian is 32 years of age, but he is playing for Barcelona and has turned out for Juventus.

You do not get to play for Barcelona and Juventus if you are not a good goalkeeper.

Now, of course, Neto’s price-tag has to suit the Gunners, who should not spend millions and millions of pounds on a 32-year-old goalkeeper, especially as their first-choice custodian, Bernd Leno, is 29.

The Athletic have claimed that Arsenal may be hopeful of striking a loan agreement.

That would be a very good deal for the Gunners.
