Arsenal fans have reacted to Matteo Guendouzi’s Twitter message where he was celebrating France’s success from the weekend.
Whilst the 22-year-old is yet to earn that first cap for his country, he was part of the squad that won the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.
The £8 million Arsenal man (Sky Sports) watched on as his teammates came from behind to beat Spain 2-1, with Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe the men on the scoresheet.
Several Arsenal fans reacted to Guendouzi’s message and they congratulated him for his success with his country.
He will no doubt now be aiming to get on the field and earn those caps for his country, especially with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar around the corner.
If that is to happen then he will have to continue to shine in Marseille colours and he is on-loan at the French club from Arsenal.
The Ligue 1 side have the chance to sign the hard-hitting midfielder in the summer and it will be interesting to see what happens if they don’t.
Guendouzi hasn’t exactly been Mr Popular with the man in Arsenal’s dugout – Mikel Arteta – hence why he is now been loaned out twice.
But if things go wrong for Arteta this season, then it might open the door for him to come back because the Spaniard might end up getting the sack.
If not, then it’s difficult to see Guendouzi having a future in North London, even though the Arsenal fans still appreciate the player.
It seems as though if the Arsenal fans had a choice they would make Guendouzi’s part of their long-term plans.
And in truth, with a certain Thomas Partey heading to the Africa Cup of Nations in January, added with Granit Xhaka’s injury, then numbers will be needed in midfield.
But that’s something Arteta will have to worry about when that scenario comes about.
