Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could be able to sign Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte, but they are facing competition from Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa all are interested in signing Aymeric Laporte from Premier League champions Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
City, who won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League last season, are now willing to sell Laporte after completing the signing of Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.
The Citizens would prefer to sell Laporte to a foreign club and want £30 million in transfer fees for the £130,000-a-week (SalarySport) Spain international central defender, according to the report.
Arsenal face a conundrum in Aymeric Laporte chase
In our opinion, Arsenal are facing a dilemma regarding a potential move for Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte in the summer transfer window.
Laporte is a very good centre-back who has done well for City over the years.
The 29-year-old has won the Premier League title five times, the UEFA Champions League once, the FA Cup on two occasions and the EFL Cup thrice.

The Spain international centre-back has made 120 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
Laporte has scored eight goals, given three assists and kept 50 clean sheets in those matches.
The defender is at the top of his game at the moment and would be able to make an immediate impact at Arsenal.
And he would cost just £30 million.
However, the problem that Arsenal could face if they signed Laporte is that they would have too many centre-backs.
William Saliba and Gabriel were the two regular centre-backs for Arsenal last season.
Ben White is a centre-back by trade, but he was playing at right-back last season.
Arsenal have also signed Jurrien Timber this season.
Timber can operate as a centre-back or as a right-back.
