According to a report from the Sun, Arsenal are making an attempt to loan Malcom from Barcelona for the rest of the season, and should they be successful in their efforts to snare the Brazilian, it would surely a bitter pill for their fierce rivals Tottenham to swallow.

The 21-year-old joined Barca in the summer from Bordeaux, for around £36.5 million, according to BBC Sport, but he has desperately struggled to establish himself at the Camp Nou.

Malcom is still an unbelievable talent, however, and it could be argued that he has not been given ample opportunity to prove his true worth during his time with the La Liga giants.

And the Brazilian could be a sensational signing for Arsenal.

The report from the Sun claims that the Gunners want him on loan for the rest of the season, and would have to pay £50 million to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer – a fee that the north London outfit would be prepared to match.

And if the winger does seal a switch to the Emirates, it really would be a devastating blow for Tottenham.

According to a report from Spanish publication Sport, Spurs have been in contact with Barcelona all month regarding the prospect of signing Malcom on loan with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.

Despite the Brazilian’s recent struggles, he still has real potential to go on and become a star, and if given the chance to play regularly, he would surely prove to everyone what all the fuss about him is.

Tottenham are in desperate need of a player like Malcom, especially with some of their key men currently out with long-term injuries.

Missing out on him in itself would be bad enough, but losing out to Arsenal in the race really would be disastrous for Spurs.
