Mykhaylo Mudryk wants to join Arsenal and has again told Shakhtar Donetsk of his desire to make the move to North London this month.
That’s according to 90Min, who claim that Mudryk has once again communicated that he wants Shakhtar to let him go to Arsenal.
Mudryk has joined up with the rest of the Shakhtar squad for their mid-season training camp in Turkey.
Yet Mudryk has allegedly used this opportunity to again tell Shakhtar of his wish to head to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are described as being confident of securing Mudryk’s signature with talks ongoing between the two clubs.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Arsenal were on the verge of a deal but it seems there is still some work to be done.
Shakhtar’s stance on Arsenal target Mudryk explained
Many have raised eyebrows at Shakhtar’s enormous demands for Mudryk.
Shakhtar have previously indicated that they want north of £80million for Mudryk, using deals for Antony and Jack Grealish as baselines.
That just seems extortionate for a young player in Ukraine but Shakhtar have been refusing bids so far.
The Independent’s Miguel Delaney reports that Shakhtar have taken such a strong stance because of FIFA.
The conflict in Ukraine meant FIFA allowed non-Ukrainian players to leave Shakhtar for other clubs.
That means Shakhtar have lost a raft of Brazilian players without much compensation and some players have been seeking to terminate their contracts.
FIFA ruled that impacted players can do that, but Shakhtar are taking the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Marlon to Monza, Vinicius Tobias to Real Madrid, Maycon to Corinthians, Tete to Lyon and Manor Solomon to Fulham… Shakhtar have lost a lot of talent.
Shakhtar now want big money for Mudryk to make up for losses on other players, meaning Arsenal may well have to keep going higher and higher if they are to land their man – and if Mudryk is to get the move he wants.
