Arsenal want Mykhaylo Mudryk and Shakhtar Donetsk have now admitted that they are in discussions to sell the winger in January.

Mudryk has become one of the most in-demand talents in Europe this season, and certainly outside of the so-called big five leagues.

A winger with blistering pace and the end product to make teams pay for giving him space, Mudryk has been sensational this season.

10 goals and eight assists in 18 games across league and Champions League games just shows Mudryk’s quality.

There is still some developing to be done but Arsenal are right to be chasing Mudryk as a huge talent for the future.

Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin has spoken to The Athletic about Mudryk and admitted discussions over a transfer are ongoing.

Palkin noted that a number of clubs are interested but no offers have reached Shakhtar’s demands.

That means a January transfer for Mudryk is currently ’50-50’ in the eyes of Palkin.

“To be honest, I do not know,” said Palkin. “At the moment, we are quite far from what we want and what clubs propose. It’s not so far but it is not what we need. We have discussions. One club, another club, they negotiate. We are in the process. Will it close this month? I don’t know. It is maybe 50-50 with regards to the winter transfer window. I don’t want to talk about figures now. We are in discussions. We have interest from some English clubs and we are in the process.”

“Every day, I read about another English club. If you believe the newspapers, it is all of (the English clubs). But to be honest, it is true as I have had contact from many clubs. A lot of them are involved in this process.”

Arsenal surely favourites to sign Mudryk

All the noises of late have suggested that Mudryk to Arsenal is a real possibility.

The Athletic claimed on Monday that Mudryk is focused on a Premier League move and determined to join Arsenal.

They added that sources close to the deal expect Arsenal to sign Mudryk in January even if a deal isn’t agreed yet.

It seems that Mudryk is very interested in Arsenal, no doubt in part because his Ukraine teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko is already at the Emirates Stadium.

Other Premier League clubs have been linked but Arsenal is by far the strongest rumour so far and they have been chasing Mudryk for months.

With Gabriel Jesus injured, Arsenal may look to use Mudryk on the left flank with Gabriel Martinelli moving up front.

That’s an exciting proposition for Arsenal fans and they will hope to see Mudryk in red and white come January.
