Arsenal want Mykhaylo Mudryk but have a considerable gap to bridge in terms of valuation ahead of transfer deadline day.
The Gunners had most of their summer business done early but may suddenly need a couple of new faces in the final hours of the window.
A midfielder is seemingly wanted with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny both out injured.
Another winger is also needed with Nicolas Pepe loaned out to Nice for the season.
Edu and Mikel Arteta may therefore face a busy couple of days, with a couple of names already linked.
Arsenal want Mykhaylo Mudryk
One of the names in the mix is Shakhtar Donetsk wide man Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that Arsenal have asked for information about a deal for Mudryk ahead of the deadline.
Romano has also added that Everton have failed with a verbal offer of around €30million (£25.75million) for Mudryk.
CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs has now offered an update, taking to Twitter to report that Arsenal and Shakhtar have started around £10million apart in valuation.
Jacobs added that Everton’s approach was €30million ‘all in’, but Shakhtar would actually like that price with add-ons on top.
Arsenal are seemingly a long way off reaching that price though and will have to come up with a better offer before Thursday’s deadline.
Mudryk, 21, has emerged as one of the top young talents in Ukraine and has ‘crazy potential’ according to Shakhtar director of football Darijo Srna.
Mudryk has only played 28 times for Shakhtar’s first team, bagging two goals and 10 assists in the process.
Capable of playing on either flank, Mudryk looks like a major talent and Arsenal could now lure him to the Premier League.
The presence of Mudryk’s international teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko should make the Gunners very appealing, and the ball is now in Edu’s court with Shakhtar seemingly seeking a deal worth more than £30million.
