Arsenal are favourites to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk with a £40million plus add-ons deal now thought to be on the cards.

The Gunners are expected to move in for a new winger in 2023.

Nicolas Pepe has been sent out on loan to Nice and it seems unlikely that he will play for Arsenal again.

Reiss Nelson is fighting for a new contract but Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka need some quality competition moving forward.

The main name in the frame has been Mudryk and it looks like Arsenal are moving closer to signing him.

Arsenal are favourites to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk

The Mirror report that Arsenal are ‘set to win the race’ to sign Mudryk.

It’s stated that club insiders have indicated that Arsenal now have a rough deal agreed with Shakhtar ahead of the January transfer window.

The report claims that Shakhtar have come down from wanting £90million for Mudryk and are now ready to take £40million plus add-ons.

Mudryk allegedly wants to join Arsenal in order to join forces with international teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Shakhtar know they have a huge talent on their hands but seemingly don’t want to block Mudryk from making his dream move.

This would be a huge coup for Arsenal and a perfect start to 2023 for Mikel Arteta and co.

Mudryk, 21, has been simply ridiculous for Shakhtar this season, bagging 10 goals and eight assists in 24 outings across all competitions.

Mudryk was already considered to be an exciting talent but his Champions League displays have catapulted him into the limelight.

Fast, direct and dangerous when cutting in from the left flank, Mudryk is an absolute menace when given space on the counter attack.

Mudryk will still need to improve in terms of breaking down lower defences but adding another star winger for the future alongside Saka and Martinelli should leave Arsenal fans very excited.

Newcastle United have been heavily linked with making a big January offer for Mudryk, but it looks like the Magpies will miss out to Arsenal here.
