Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk has dazzled again having scored a fine goal for Shakhtar Donetsk against Celtic this evening.

The Gunners looked into signing a new winger towards the end of the summer transfer deadline.

Nicolas Pepe’s loan move to Nice left Arsenal a little short of wide options to compete with Bukayo Saka.

However, the deadline passed without Arsenal signing a new face despite holding an interest in Mudryk.

Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk has dazzled again

Fabrizio Romano suggested that Arsenal had explored a potential deal to sign Shakhtar winger Mudryk.

No deal was done and Arsenal may wish they had secured his signature before the window shut.

Mudryk was sensational for Shakhtar last week, recording a goal and two assists in a simply devastating performance against RB Leipzig.

That display really put Mudryk on the mainstream map and he has backed up the hype tonight.

With Shakhtar 1-0 down to Celtic in the Champions League this evening, Mudryk raced clear down the left flank and fired past Joe Hart.

Mudryk’s speed to accelerate away from the Celtic defence was just outstanding and the Bhoys couldn’t catch him.

This was just another great performance on a big stage for Mudryk and he has been receiving the plaudits to go with it.

Pundit Chris Sutton took to Twitter to state that Mudryk was ‘rapid’ when he broke away to score against his beloved Celtic.

Analyst Andy Brassell – one of the top voices on European football – also took to Twitter to suggest that Mudryk is ‘absolutely outstanding’ and wonders just how Shakhtar kept hold of him.

The official Champions League account added ‘what a baller’ alongside a photo of Mudryk celebrating his goal against Celtic.

It’s clear that Mudryk is a huge talent and Arsenal need to hope that these Champions League displays don’t raise the competition for his signature.
