Arsenal face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup this week in need of a lift.

The Gunners dropped more points in the Premier League at the weekend and already sit 12 points behind their rivals.

Liverpool have home advantage for this one, and Arsenal need a spark.

This is a great opportunity for them to call on sensational youngster Folarin Balogun.

Balogun can’t stop scoring for the under-23s, with seven goals in nine games. He also has four assists.

Give him the stage to play at Anfield, and he might just spring a surprise.

Both teams are expected to play rotated teams for the fixture. Arsenal will probably choose to start with Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gunners should bring 18-year-old Balogun along for the trip and include him on the bench.

It was in this competition where Eddie Nketiah made his name two years ago, helping the Gunners turn around a deficit against Norwich, coming off the bench to score twice.

Liverpool are favourites to win the game, meaning this could be the last Carabao Cup chance for Unai Emery to bring Balogun in this season.

Considering the pressure building on him, why not take a chance? Why not provide a bit of feelgood factor?

Balogun could buy him a bit of time, and bring a bit more goodwill. If he helps Arsenal win, talk over Emery’s future will be shelved for a few more days.

The teenager deserves to at least be on the bench. Whether Arsenal are brave enough to make that call, we will see.
