Arsenal are interested in Moussa Diaby but the Bayer Leverkusen winger is expected to be very expensive during this month’s transfer window.

That’s according to Sky Germany, who claim that Diaby is on Arsenal’s list of targets after missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea.

The Blues hijacked Arsenal in the race to sign Mudryk over the weekend and Arsenal have to go back to the drawing board.

Diaby is one target for the Gunners but it’s stated that he should be ‘expensive’ to sign during this month’s transfer window.

Diaby is under contract until 2025 and Leverkusen are seeming hiking up the price tag given that we’re in the middle of the season.

It seems unlikely that Diaby will be heading to Arsenal but you can hardly blame the Gunners for being very interested.

Who is Arsenal target Moussa Diaby?

Diaby was born in Paris and came through the ranks with hometown club Paris Saint-Germain having previously played for Esperance Paris 19eme.

Diaby was never really able to make the breakthrough into PSG’s first team though and managed just 34 first-team appearances.

Even a 2018 loan move to Italian side Crotone was a struggle as Diaby made just two appearances before heading back to PSG.

Leverkusen saw huge potential in Diaby back in 2019 though and the winger quit PSG for Germany, just like Christopher Nkunku at RB Leipzig.

Diaby has now become a sensation in Germany, smashing 17 goals and 14 assists for Leverkusen last season.

Predominantly a right-sided winger who can cut in on his left foot, Diaby has notched eight goals and four assists already this term.

Bild noted last week that Newcastle see Diaby as their ‘absolute dream signing’ whilst noting that the winger has been clocked as the fastest player in the Bundesliga.

Branded ‘astonishing’ over in Germany, Diaby has become one of the top wingers in Europe and Arsenal would no doubt love to add him to Mikel Arteta’s side.

Yet unless Arsenal are willing to offer up enormous money, it seems that Diaby won’t be heading to North London this month.
