Arsenal want Moussa Diaby but Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen haven’t even responded to their attempts to sign the winger this month.

That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, who claims that Arsenal have indeed made first contact with Leverkusen over a deal for Diaby.

However, Leverkusen haven’t even responded to the enquiry with the Bundesliga side seemingly not interested in selling.

Leverkusen are reluctant to sell Diaby in the middle of the season so if Edu does get a response, it likely isn’t going to be a positive one.

Moussa Diaby would be a hugely exciting Mudryk alternative for Arsenal

Arsenal are back in for a new winger having dramatically missed out on a deal for Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Gunners were hijacked by Chelsea in the race for Mudryk and must now go back to the drawing board for a new wide man.

As far as alternatives go, Diaby would be one of the more exciting possible signings for Arsenal.

Diaby, 23, has been an outstanding offensive weapon for Leverkusen in recent times.

The Frenchman smashed 17 goals and 14 assists in 42 games for Leverkusen last season and has managed eight goals as well as four assists this term.

Diaby can play on the left or right flank, offering competition for both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Branded ‘astonishing’ over in Germany, Diaby has blistering pace and has even been clocked as the Bundesliga’s fastest player this season.

Diaby has shown the kind of pace and end product that Arsenal are seeking, but a deal sounds very difficult.

Leverkusen’s season has been disappointing this term as they have taken just 18 points from 15 games.

Diaby will be relied upon to drive Leverkusen up the table in the second half of the season, with Xabi Alonso looking to close the gap to the European places.

Arsenal will seemingly have to wait until summer to have a chance at signing Diaby – if Edu ever even hears back from Leverkusen.
