ACF Fiorentina are reportedly set to sign Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic on loan despite reports of Arsenal leading the chase to sign the Serbian international.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A side are close to completing an agreement to sign the La Liga forward for the season, with Fiorentina set to disrupt Arsenal’s transfer plans for a second time this summer following the debacle surrounding Lucas Torreira.

Fiorentina were set to sign the Uruguayan midfielder after a successful loan spell with the Tuscany side, however, a disagreement over the transfer fee meant that Torreira never secured his permanent move to Florence, much to the disappointment of both the player and Arsenal.

And now, Fiorentina look set to sign a target Arsenal have been reportedly chasing for some time, with Jovic set to leave Madrid for a second time since signing for Los Blancos for £50m in 2019, a transfer that the Gunners could have pulled off this summer.

Whilst Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, another attacker is seemingly on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist this summer, with the north London side now fighting Chelsea for the signing of Leeds United star Raphinha.

Indeed, signing the UEFA Champions League winner on loan would have been a good move for Arsenal, yet with Fiorentina now winning the race for the striker following La Viola’s rejection of signing Torreira, relationships between the two clubs could now be quite frosty, to say the least.

It’s safe to say that Fiorentina aren’t exactly in Arsenal’s good books following the disagreement over Torreira and the January saga involving Dusan Vlahovic, and the Serie A side now signing Jovic could be the final straw for the north London side.

After all, Arsenal have been played dirty by the Tuscan side this year over numerous deals, and the Gunners missing out on Jovic to Fiorentina might be the nail in the coffin for Arteta and Edu Gaspar ever conducting business with the Tuscans ever again.
