Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has praised Leandro Trossard after the winger made a positive impact in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Manchester United.

The Gunners faced a big game on Sunday with United heading to North London and the game did not disappoint.

Marcus Rashford’s stunning opener had United ahead before an Eddie Nketiah header levelled it up.

Bukayo Saka smashed Arsenal in front, only for United to hit back this time with Lisandro Martinez looping a header into the net.

There was another twist though as Eddie Nketiah flicked home a late winner, sending the Emirates Stadium wild after a game that took us all back to the early 2000’s.

Mikel Arteta praises Arsenal new boy Leandro Trossard

For those who experienced the great Arsenal v Manchester United rivalry in around the turn of the millennium, Sunday’s game was a throwback.

Arsenal won’t really care about reigniting that rivalry but will love another three points in their quest for the Premier League title.

The Gunners were able to hand a debut to Leandro Trossard, who joined from Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday.

All paperwork was completed in time for Trossard to be included in the squad and brought off the bench with 82 minutes on the clock.

Trossard replaced Gabriel Martinelli and did have a part to play in the winner down Arsenal’s left side.

The Belgian also produced some lovely dribbling to skip past United players and keep the ball in Arsenal’s possession with the clock ticking down.

It’s hard to make a huge impact in such limited time and just days after signing but Trossard showed promising signs.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has now hailed Trossard, suggesting that the 28-year-old immediately showed three key things – composure, calmness and confidence – to help Arsenal win all three points.

“Just in terms of numbers we had 15 or 16 outfield players and obviously it wasn’t enough, they are going to help us,” said Arteta on Trossard and inbound defender Jakub Kiwior. “Leo already helped us a lot, today he showed how composed, how calm and how confident he was when he came on the pitch and he helped us win the game,” he added.
