Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is set to land a huge new contract to stay at the club amid fears he could end up at Manchester City.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim that Stan Kroenke wants to show his unwavering confidence in Arteta by giving him a new deal.
Arteta currently earns £5million-a-year at Arsenal but is now set to earn a bumper new deal worth in the region of £8.3million.
The Spaniard is now set to earn the same kind of money Arsene Wenger earned before leaving Arsenal in 2018.
The contract will also see Arteta sign a three-year agreement, though it’s unclear whether that overrides or extends his current deal.
It’s clear that Kroenke and Arsenal have real faith in Arteta, who seemingly has the club moving forward this season.
Arsenal have real hopes of a top four finish, which hasn’t really been the case in recent years.
Arteta has been developing Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe brilliantly whilst forming a strong and sturdy defence.
Once Arsenal sign a big striker for Arteta, the Gunners could be a real threat under the former Manchester City coach.

Snapped up from City in 2019, Arteta worked closely with Pep Guardiola and has been touted as his potential successor.
The Daily Mail recently noted that Arsenal feared Arteta leaving the club for a return to City next year.
With Arteta and Guardiola set to be out of contract in 2023, there was a fear that Arteta could return to the Etihad Stadium.
With this new contract, Arsenal are easing those fears and making it clear that they have their long-term manager in place for years to come.
