Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal is a transfer rumour that has suddenly come out of nowhere.

According to The Daily Mail last week, the Gunners are interested in signing the Manchester City left-back this summer.

Arsenal’s reported interest was then given a major boost when it was reported by The Times that the newly-crowned Premier League champions had given Zinchenko permission to leave the Etihad Stadium.

And based on another development, a transfer to the Emirates just might be set to materialise.

That’s because The Athletic have reported that Man City are ‘confident’ that they’ll be signing Marc Cucurella this summer.

Cucurella, like Zinchenko, is a left-back and if Pep Guardiola signs the Spaniard, which is looking increasingly likely, then it could and probably will pave the way for the Ukraine international to team up with Mikel Arteta in North London.

Arsenal need a left-back this summer.

With Kieran Tierney still out injured – and not for the first time in his Gunners career – it really means Arteta needs a top-drawer covering option for the Scot.

And as exciting as Nuno Tavares can be, he’s a defensive nightmare at the moment and the North Londoners need more quality in that position.

But if Pep really is close to signing Cucurella then it could, in theory, indicate that Zinchenko – who played 15 games in helping City defend the title this past season [Transfermarkt] – to Arsenal is very much on the cards.
