Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to Mikel Arteta’s claim that Emile Smith Rowe will ‘100%’ stay at Arsenal.
After several rumoured bids from the Villa camp, it seems as though Arsenal weren’t too pleased with the pursuit of Smith Rowe.
The 20-year-old is yet to sign a new contract at Arsenal and all of that talk just ignited the fire about him possibly leaving for Villa even further.
But after the North London club were beaten by Hibernian in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, Arteta made it clear that his creative talent is going nowhere.
Villa fans aren’t surprised by the comments, but they have seemingly loved the initial reaction from the Arsenal supporters when the news first broke.
It would have caused utter chaos if Smith Rowe was sold by Arsenal, but it seems as though he will now be staying put and it’s a case of him now signing on the dotted line.
From Villa’s perspective, it will be interesting to see whether they will still try to fish for Smith Rowe despite Arteta’s comments because it seems as though Dean Smith is keen on bringing another creative talent on board.
The Midlands side already have star man Jack Grealish and summer signing Emi Buendia on their books.
And if another player of that ilk can join their forward line then Ollie Watkins might just score more goals against Arsenal next season.
