The Daily Star has reported that Arsenal have had an offer for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema rejected.
The Gunners are thought to have lodged a £31 million bid for the Frenchman, as Arsene Wenger looks for ways to revitalise his attack ahead of the new season.
It’s unclear as to whether a larger offer will grab the attention of the Spanish club.
Arsenal chief Ivan Gazidis is confident that Arsenal can get the better of Chelsea and Manchester City in the Premier League title race.
With comments carried in the Daily Express, Gazidis hasn’t held back with his expectations for the coming season.
Gazidis has explained there is a real belief at the club that they can dominate over the next few seasons.
“We always have to do things better than our competitors, that is our challenge, but there is a real belief we can win the Premier League and compete to win major trophies in the next few years,” he said.
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has been quoted by the Daily Telegraph revealing his belief that the Gunners are very close to catching Chelsea.
Cech feels the difference between the two teams isn’t that great with the return of the Premier League just over two weeks away.
He’s suggested that there are plenty of things the club have in common with Arsenal looking to build on the success of back-to-back FA Cups.
“We have a lot of things in common – We have a good balance. We have players with a lot of experience,” he said.
