England came so close to glory at Euro 2020, but 55 years of hurt hasn’t come to an end after Italy triumphed on penalties on Sunday.

England’s long trophy drought goes on, and so does Harry Kane’s as the striker once again came so close to winning his first piece of silverware.

However, Kane was denied the chance to lift the European Championship trophy after Bukayo Saka missed the crucial fifth penalty on Sunday, and in our view, that may push him closer to the exit door at Spurs.

Put yourself in Kane’s shoes. This lack of trophies has seemingly become something of an obsession for him, and coming so close yet again will surely only fuel that fire that has been burning inside of him.

Indeed, you have to imagine that the England captain will be more desperate than ever to end his trophy drought after Sunday, and that may lead to him further questioning his future at Spurs.

Kane will return to Tottenham to play with a squad that finished seventh in the Premier League last season and under a manager that finished 13^th, and if he’s honest with himself, his team’s chances of winning a trophy this season are slim.

After yet another heartbreak, surely he will be more desperate than ever to get that first winners’ medal under his belt, and in order to do that, he may have to leave north London.

Saka’s missed penalty could act as another nail in the coffin of Kane’s Spurs career, and it’s so ironic that it was an Arsenal player’s miss that could start a domino effect that may lead to Tottenham losing arguably their greatest ever player.
