The World Cup is right around the corner and Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner has received a message from Ted Lasso.

The final Premier League weekend before the World Cup has now been and gone, with the full attention now turning to the World Cup.

Qatar will take on Ecuador in the first game of this controversial World Cup next Sunday and players will soon be flying out to join up with their countries.

Arsenal went out on a high with a 2-0 win over Wolves and will now sit top of the Premier League table at Christmas.

Matt Turner receives a message from Ted Lasso

Arsenal will have a host of players heading out to Qatar with their countries, including Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Granit Xhaka.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale will be there with England even if he’s unlikely to be first choice, and backup Matt Turner will be there with the Unites States of America.

Turner is expected to start as USA’s first-choice goalkeeper in Qatar, ahead of Sean Johnson and Ethan Horvath with Zack Steffen left out completely.

Turner hasn’t played a Premier League game for Arsenal yet but has featured in the Europa League since joining Arsenal from New England Revolution over the summer.

Now poised to feature on the biggest stage, Turner has received a message from an unlikely source.

The United States National Team have posted photos of a host of billboards and messages on the sides of buildings from Ted Lasso.

That’s right; the fictional character portrayed by Jason Sudeikis has been sending heartfelt messages to players called up by the United States.

Lasso’s whole thing on the immensely-popular Apple TV show is to believe, and Turner was one player to receive a message along those lines.

The message notes that Turner only really started playing football to stay fit for basketball and baseball, but as Lasso says, the pastime became a passion.

The hope is that Turner can take that message into the World Cup and enjoy a great tournament with the United States – though hopefully not against England.
