Goal journalist Charles Watts has said on his YouTube channel that Arsenal have not given up hope of signing Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.
Watts has said that although Arsenal are getting the sense that Odegaard will stay at Madrid, the Gunners have not given up on signing him just yet.
The Athletic reported earlier this month that Mikel Arteta’s side will miss out on the signing of the 22-year-old – valued by Madrid at €60 million (£51.54 million), according to Defensa Central.
But, it seems that although Arsenal know that it will be tough to get a done done, they have not given up yet and are still hopeful.
What’s been said?
Watts said on his YouTube channel: “As far as I am aware, Martin Odegaard, as I have said this season, has always been a priority, and I don’t think Arsenal have totally ruled out the idea of bringing Martin Odegaard back yet.
“The information that I have got is that he is still a player that they want. It looks however and they are getting the sense however that it is going to prove difficult to get that done, that he may well be staying at Real Madrid. They are obviously having talks with Madrid about him.”

Staying positive
Odegaard did well during his loan spell at Arsenal during the second half of last season.
The Norway international made nine starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League.
The attacking midfielder scored one goal and gave two assists in those games.

The 22-year-old also scored one goal in six Europa League matches for the Gunners.
Madrid have a new manager in charge now. Carlo Ancelotti would well decide to give Odegaard a fresh start.
However, Watts’s comments suggest that the Gunners still want to sign the youngster.
Anything is possible in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal fans should stay positive.
