Arsenal ace Martin Odegaard has admitted that he grew up supporting Liverpool – but even a great offer couldn’t make him join them now.
Odegaard was in frankly scintillating form on Monday night as he turned in a stunning performance against West Ham United.
The Norwegian was in action just hours after an interview with NRK back in his home country was released.
Odegaard spoke about a number of things about his career, including the club he grew up supporting.
Odegaard admitted that he grew up supporting Liverpool, mostly because his father was a Reds fan too.
The playmaker did note that he had a soft spot for Arsenal too but it was Liverpool who had his heart as a kid.
Yet when asked if he could join Liverpool should they make an ‘incredibly good offer’, Odegaard completely just that down.
“There is not much that can lure me away from here. I am having a very good time here,” said Odegaard.
Liverpool can forget about luring Odegaard away from Arsenal
Liverpool certainly like Odegaard.
Jurgen Klopp admitted earlier this year that he tried to sign Odegaard from Stromsgodset but he chose Real Madrid instead.
Klopp added that Odegaard is a ‘top player’ and has become an even better player than expected.
It’s clear that there is real admiration for Odegaard inside Anfield, but we’re not expecting him to move to Merseyside any time soon.
Arsenal are flying at the top of the Premier League table and have real hopes of claiming the title this season.
Mikel Arteta’s men are moving forward at a rapid pace and they won’t be selling a key player like Odegaard any time soon.
Add in that Liverpool are a direct rival and there is just no way Odegaard would be sold to the Reds.
Odegaard seems happy at Arsenal anyway, with his Liverpool affection consigned to the past.
