Arsenal could loan out Marquinhos in January with Mikel Arteta and Edu potentially allowing him to leave for first-team action elsewhere.

The Gunners sent one winger out on loan before the transfer deadline as Nicolas Pepe headed back to French football with Nice.

That was seen as something of a risk; we know Pepe hasn’t lived up to his billing but his exit left Arsenal short of cover for Bukayo Saka.

A push for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk was rumoured before the transfer deadline, but no deal materialised.

Arsenal could loan out Marquinhos in January

That means it’s now down to summer signing Marquinhos or even Reiss Nelson to step up and support Nelson.

Marquinhos got the nod against Zurich on Thursday evening, starting for Arsenal in their Europa League clash.

The Brazilian arrived from Sao Paulo over the summer with Edu seemingly believing that the 19-year-old has the potential to become a star.

We certainly saw that on Thursday as Marquinhos grabbed his first Arsenal goal, finishing off a sweeping counter-attack.

Marquinhos was emotional after his big moment and fans are now excited to see more of the teenager over the coming months.

However, Arsenal may end up allowing Marquinhos to leave on loan during the January transfer window.

The Sun report that Arsenal are considering letting Marquinhos head out for regular first-team experience in 2023.

Arsenal wanted to loan Marquinhos out after his arrival, believing that he needed a full season with a European club.

Yet having shown promise in pre-season, Arsenal chose to keep Marquinhos alongside Arteta at least until the New Year after the Spaniard praised his physicality.

Arsenal are still seemingly considering that move but only if Edu can bring in another winger in the January window.

Mudryk will surely remain on Arsenal’s radar but the Gunners have to be wary of adding too much young talent all at once.

Let’s say Mudryk joins; Arsenal would then have to deal out minutes for Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira, Martin Odegaard, Saka, Marquinhos and Mudryk moving forward.

That’s a tricky situation but one to keep an eye on with Marquinhos potentially able to go out on loan in early 2023.
