Arsenal are interested in signing Marcel Sabitzer from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window, according to Bild.

What’s the story?

Bild are reporting interest from Arsenal in Austria international midfielder Sabitzer.

AS Roma and AC Milan are also keen on the Leipzig star.

Although the 27-year-old’s release clause is €50 million (£42.97 million), Leipzig will sell him for less than that, but more than €17 million (£14.61 million).

Sabitzer will make a decision on his future in the coming weeks and prefers to join a club with European football.

No chance for Arsenal?

Arsenal will not play in the Champions League next season.

In fact, the Gunners will not even feature in the Europa League.

If Sabitzer is keen on moving to a club with European football, then surely Arsenal are out of the running.

Milan finished second in the Serie A table last season and will play in the Champions League in 2021-22.

That will give the Rossoneri the edge over Arsenal.

However, money talks, and anything is possible during the transfer season.

Would Marcel Sabitzer make Arsenal better?

Sabitzer is at the top of his game and would be able to make an immediate impact at Arsenal.

The 27-year-old is a goalscoring midfielder who can operate in a central role as well as in a more attacking position.

The Austrian scored eight goals and gave three assists in the Bundesliga last season.

Sabitzer has been compared to David Beckham as well.

Bundesliga.com did a feature on the Austrian last year in which they compared him to the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star.

“A goalscoring midfielder with killer set piece technique?” it was stated.

“Sabitzer is more than a little reminiscent of the former England captain, who made a career out of his remarkable swinging deliveries and long-range free-kicks.”

Arsenal could do with an established dynamic and goalscoring midfielder such as Sabitzer in their team.
