Ian Wright has said on Match of the Day on BBC One (11:04pm, January 1, 2022) that Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey was “magnificent” against Manchester City.

The Arsenal legend and MOTD pundit made the comments about Partey on MOTD while analysing the match between the Gunners and City at the Emirates Stadium on New Year’s Day.

Arsenal lost the Premier League game 2-1.

Ian Wright on Arsenal’s Thomas Partey

Wright said on MOTD: “Thomas Partey had a magnificent game.”

Impressive

In our opinion, Partey played well for Arsenal despite ending up on the losing side.

The Ghana international was a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park and imposed himself in midfield.

Partey formed a formidable partnership with Granit Xhaka in midfield and broke up City’s play so well, especially in the first half.

The former Atletico Madrid star also played the ball forward quickly when he had it.

In our view, Partey had one of his best games in an Arsenal shirt against Pep Guardiola’s side.

We know how good Partey is.

The problem is that we have not always seen Partey at his best.

Injury problems have not helped.

Maybe, just maybe, the former Atletico star will be more consistent now.
