Arsenal are considered to be the favourites for Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus after Edu initiated talks for his signature months ago.
That’s according to The Athletic, who claim that Arsenal are pushing themselves to the front of the queue for Jesus.
It’s stated that Edu has been in talks with Jesus’s representatives for ‘a number of months’ now ahead of launching a summer bid.
Mikel Arteta’s history with Jesus is a factor too. Jesus was coached by Arteta at City and could now reunite at the Emirates Stadium.
The Brazilian is out of contract at the end of next season and City may simply choose to sell this summer.
Brazilian news outlet Lance reported just days ago that City have now decided to let Jesus leave this summer.
City are poised to sign Erling Haaland and that means Jesus will seemingly become available.
Yet if Arsenal thought signing Jesus would be easy, today’s events may just change things.
Jesus started in the City attack as they hammered Watford 5-1 and he was in simply unbelievable form.
Jesus smashed four goals in a stunning performance. One of those goals was a penalty, but Jesus even won it. Rodri also scored, but Jesus picked up the assist.
With a major hand in all five City goals, this was a dream performance from Jesus.

That’s a major display of quality from Jesus, who has often struggled to recreate the clinical edge he showed when he first joined City in 2017.
City may point to his performance in negotiations, as Arsenal will be seeking a bargain given his contract situation.
City can still command a considerable fee for Jesus, and may yet hope there is a bidding war on the horizon.
Reports have suggested that Jesus is likely to join Barcelona or Juventus this summer with European heavyweights queueing up for his services.
For Arsenal to be favourites is a major step for Edu and co, with the Brazilian seemingly in pole position to sign his compatriot.
