Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has claimed that he will would to stay with the La Liga side for the rest of his career despite reported interest from Arsenal and Manchester United this summer.
Speaking to AS ahead of Spain’s UEFA Nations League fixtures this month, the former Juventus superstar revealed that he wants to stay with Atletico for the remainder of his playing days, with Morata siting that he has unfinished business with the Madrid-based side, the club where the forward began his career as a child.
Morata joined Atletico’s academy as a teenager before being snapped up by Real Madrid, where the striker became a regular for the European giants before moving to the likes of Juventus, Chelsea and then back to Atletico, where the club tried to offload the 29-year-old this summer.
Juventus were reportedly keen on signing the attacker, however, the Serie A side were unwilling to match Mortata’s reported £30m price tag, with Arsenal and United also linked with the Atletico star during the summer, with the forward and the club ultimately deciding that a stay might be for the best.

Indeed, Atletico have endured a rough start to the season despite Morata’s impressive goalscoring form in the division, and when asked if the wants to remain at the club for the remainder of his career, the striker was more than open to the idea given his ties with the youth academy.
Morata said when asked about if he would stay with Atletico for the foreseeable future and finish his career at his boyhood side: “The truth is, yes. I think I have something left to do with this club and win silverware with Atleti. It was what I wanted when I was with Koke in the youth academy, when I was 12, 13 years old.”
Morata staying at Atletico for the rest of his career would be quite something

Morata has been something of a black sheep in the footballing world ever since his spell at Chelsea, where the prolific goalscorer has been seen as a striker who misses more than he scores and who can somehow find the back of the net from improbable angles yet finds it hard to bag one in from an easy position, and his comments about wanting to stay at Atletico speak highly of what the forward wants to achieve.
After all, Morata has enjoyed a good star to life with Atletico this season despite the club’s short-comings on and off the pitch, and the forward remaining with the red half of Madrid for the remainder of his career despite Arsenal and Manchester United interest would be quite something from the Spanish international.
