Arsenal beat Leeds United 2-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night with Ainsley Maitland-Niles turning in a strong performance in midfield.

The Gunners scored twice in the second half as Calum Chambers and Eddie Nketiah both found the net.

Arsenal head into the last eight of the competition and will have real hope of claiming silverware.

A number of fringe Arsenal players were given a chance to shine, and Maitland-Niles really seized his opportunity in the team.

Maitland-Niles looked like leaving in August, but has stayed at Arsenal in the hope of forcing his way in.

The 24-year-old has only started one Premier League game but dazzled Arsenal fans last night.

Arsenal supporters have been taking to Twitter to rave about Maitland-Niles.

Some felt that Maitland-Niles was ‘wonderful’ and ‘brilliant’ against Leeds.

Others believe that Maitland-Niles really is showing that he can be a midfielder after a man of the match display.

There are some who think that Maitland-Niles really should be knocking on the door for playing time under Mikel Arteta.

A number of fans pointed out that Maitland-Niles was ‘way better’ than Kalvin Phillips on the night, showing him ‘levels’ in midfield.
